It is through contributions from AAUW members, generous parents of the girls we serve, corporate matching gifts, and our vitally important community sponsors that we have been able to grow the success of our annual Sister-to-Sister project.
Following are answers to some frequently asked questions about contributing to support Sister-to-Sister.
A. Yes. Donations made payable to AAUW California Special Projects Fund (AAUW CA SPF), in support of AAUW-OML's Sister-to-Sister project, are tax-deductible under the regulations of federal and California State Tax Codes.
The AAUW California Special Projects Fund's purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. It receives and distributes contributions from individuals, corporations, community organizations, and AAUW California for programs and projects that further education and equity for all women and girls in the communities served by AAUW California Branches. Contributions to the AAUW California Special Projects Fund are tax deductible under the 501(c)(3) regulations of the federal and California State Tax Codes.
A. No. Registration fees are kept at a minimum, but they do help cover the cost of food, snacks, tee shirts, gifts, and professional services provided through the Sister-to-Sister project.
A. All girls are welcome to participate in Sister-to-Sister. No one is turned away because they cannot afford the fees. Some need-based scholarships are available. We welcome your donation to help pay the fees for girls whose families may not have the means to afford it. Please send your check to our Sister-to-Sister Treasurer at the following address: AAUW-OML, S2S Treasurer, P. O. Box 6705, Moraga, CA 94570.
A. To donate by check, please use the following instructions.
This will insure that your gift is properly credited to the AAUW Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette Branch Sister-to-Sister Project and that you receive proper acknowledgment for your tax records.
A. Please provide the administrator of your Matching Gifts program or the administrator of your organization with the following instructions.
If it is necessary to mail your Organization/Corporate Check or Matching Gift to our official AAUW-CA mailing address, as some organizations require, please use the following instructions:
- Make Corporate and Matching Gifts or Community Sponsor checks payable to: AAUW CA SPF (AAUW California Special Projects Funds 501(c)(3) account).
- Specify on the memo line: AAUW-OML Sister-to-Sister.
- Mail check to: AAUW-CA Office, Special Projects Fund, P.O. Box 160067, Sacramento, CA 95816.
- Include the name of the sponsor/corporate contact person (for acknowledgment for tax records).
- Notify us by email with "[amount of donation] Donation to AAUW-OML Sister-to-Sister will be forthcoming" in the subject line. Email to: office@aauw-ca.org, spfund@aauw-ca.org, and s2s@aauwoml.org. Include the name of the sponsor/corporate contact person in the text of the email.
This will insure that the check is properly credited to benefit the AAUW Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette Branch Sister-to-Sister Project, and that the donor will receive proper acknowledgment for tax records.
If you are providing a gift-in-kind, please provide the details and value of your donation-in-kind to our S2S Treasurer so that we can officially acknowledge your gift for your tax records. Mail your information to: AAUW-OML, S2S Treasurer, P. O. Box 6705, Moraga, CA 94570.
A. AAUW-OML and the Sister-to-Sister project will acknowledge donations and sponsors on our AAUW-OML and Sister-to-Sister websites, in AAUW-OML newsletters, and in S2S publicity. Major Contributors supporting at the $1000+ level will also be acknowledged on professional banners posted publicly in the community. All tax deductible contributions to AAUW CA SPF for the AAUW-OML's Sister-to-Sister Project will be officially acknowledged by AAUW for your tax records.
A. Yes. Please specify when you send your contribution that you prefer to be listed as an anonymous donor.
Sister-to-Sister brings middle and high school girls together in an energizing and supportive environment to address the challenging issues of adolescence. Our goal is to develop self-confident and resilient young women and empower them to make positive choices in their lives.
