The AAUW is dedicated to making a positive impact on our local and global community by promoting education, empowering women and girls, and by supporting personal and professional growth. Candidates should have demonstrated their commitment to our ideal. Recipients will receive recognition at the AAUW-OML Awards Celebration in April. Awardees will be expected to attend the meeting and give a brief speech about their accomplishments and aspirations. Scholarship checks are issued after proof of college registration is provided.
If you share our vision, have an excellent academic record (3.0 or better) and have been involved in service to your school and/or community, we invite you to apply. Or if you know a graduating high school senior who fulfills the scholarship criteria, please encourage her to apply.
Please read the instructions attached to the forms and fill out either the high school or the Saint Mary's College application form. (The high school and the Saint Mary's College application forms are also available in .docx file format.) A hard copy may also be obtained from the Career Centers at the high schools.
In April of 2013, the Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette branch of AAUW awarded $7000 in scholarships to five Lamorinda high school students and one St. Mary's senior, as well as $6000 in Tech Trek Science and Math Camp scholarships to six middle school girls.

Gayle Uilkema's Campaign Fund Donation
to AAUW-OML Scholarships for Women
The following is an excerpt from a letter from Carol T. Singer, Treasurer of long-time AAUW member and Contra Costa County Supervisor Gayle Uilkema:
Gayle Uilkema, Supervisor for District 2, Contra Costa County, passed away in May after serving on the Board of Supervisors for almost 16 years. In 2011 Gayle had announced her intention not to seek re-election to a fifth term on the board, beginning in January 2013.
Gayle had planned to take some time to pursue her personal life and perhaps then seek election to another office. When it became apparent that this would not happen, Gayle allocated her campaign funds to organizations in District 2. She was always very concerned about the needs of the people she represented, and she spent time considering where the funds might be most useful.
As Supervisor Uilkema's campaign Treasurer, I am distributing her campaign funds in accordance with her wishes and with regard to State law governing the allocation of such funds. A check is enclosed to your organization. Gayle wished that these funds be used for local scholarships of $5,000 each for girls, graduate and undergraduate.
